The Altmer winced as her hand moved to her blade.

"My associate was not around when the Dunmer was there I swear it!  It was only by chance that I brought up his query over dinner last night.  I remembered that he mentioned a short Dunmer female similar in description to you and so I followed you."

He didn't seem to be holding anything back but Iniana didn't trust him regardless.  She watched as her mentor took down the information and then nearly leaped on her back in excitement.

"Looks like we have a destination at least!  It's something right?"

She tried hard to cover her concern but Iniana wore her emotions on her sleeve and very likely did a terrible job.

Katriel would nod in understanding before letting the altmer go, she would remain quiet until it was just her and iniana. She would smile and pat the girls head

"Indeed, it is a start, but don't get your hopes up, you know how altmer can be, anyone of a different race to them looks the same and could be interchangeable..."

She would then shake her head and sigh, giving a hint of a smile as she began walking as she spoke

"Come, let's get back to camp and tell the others, we have some traveling to do afterall!"

~~~~~~~~~
Camp was easy and quick to get together once news was heard about a lead, she silently wished that Al was there, after all, they never would have gotten the lead without him.
Iniana:
Her pace was faster on the way back to camp, she was ready to get moving and get in contact with members of her family to make sure they were all ok.  Iniana and her mentor continued talking about their past experiences but the exchange was slower with more silence than before they received the news.
As they got back to camp they saw that the others had been busy packing most things up in case they were going to move out, carts had been loaded and only the tent remained standing.  When news was shared about the lead it didn't take long to gather up what remained.  While they were finishing up an Orsimer that Iniana hadn't seen previously approached Katriel.  He stood in stark comparison to the beast of an Orc that was Gogron, he was shorter than any Orsimer she had seen previously though his build was similarly broad and muscular.  In a way he seemed more muscular than even Gogron but it could have been just that his size made him appear that way.  As Iniana listened he introduced himself as Khadrul.
Khadrul:
He tride to imitate the stance that his fellow Orsimer in the camp wore so well and hoped he was succeeding.  He didn't like being showed up by others of his race and was bitter of most Orsimer.  When he had to deal with more of his race he tried to keep it as brief as possible and Gogron would be no different.  The overly confident Orc would say or do something that would anger him if he stayed around him too long.
"Hello again Katriel.  You may not remember me, I maintain the forges for General Talbor and assist him in trade relations when dealing with groups outside of Morrowind.  I have been with the General for a few years now but have been traveling for a good portion of that, we only met once just before your group left for Fort Farragut.  I have been asked to travel with you to help with logistics concerns."
Khadrul had always been long winded despite his gruff voice.  He always felt the need to fully explain himself in any conversation.  After introducing himself he paused to give Katriel a chance to respond.
Katriel tried to place the orsmer before her in her memory, but she simply couldn't recall him, but once the explication was done she nodded in understanding and gave him a small bow of welcome
"It is a pleasure to have you join us on my task ser, it will be a true asset to have you along, i thank you for coming and joining us Khadrul. Might you have any questions or concerns?"
Khadrul:
The moment Katriel seemed done speaking Khadrul began immediately.
"Yes, now on to my point of inquiry.  As I stated I am familiar with and often used as a trade negotiator for the Great House Hlaalu through connections myself and Idas have established over the years.  I am aware that your mission is the priority for our group, that was made very clear by Councilor Alandauron Andrethi.  That being said we are still representatives of Hlaalu and while traveling it would be beneficial to both the House and General Talbor if we were to partake in some missions or tasks.  We have enough supplies that we could travel straight to the region you mentioned but I have been speaking with local traders and officials and there are a number of assignments available to us that would be beneficial without taking us too far out of the way."
Khadrul didn't even wait for a response from Katriel this time and instead went straight to naming off the potential offers in extreme detail.  Meanwhile Gogron and the rest of the group continued preparing for departure by corralling the horses and pack animals and leashing them to their respective wagons for transport.
Iniana:
She quickly grew bored of the Orsimer's rambling, no this one was nothing like the giant that also accompanied them.  As the Orc continued talking to Katriel she laid on her back close by and began fidgeting with her dagger, wondering how long this would go on.  Finally after what seemed over an hour she heard the Orsimer stop, she looked over to see if he had simply passed out from not taking in enough oxygen while he was speaking.
PARTY DECISION:
-Straight to region, direct travel to Arenthia
-Caravan protection to Riverhold
-Political escort to Anvil
Katriel would chew on her inner lip as she listened and grew more anxious the longer the orsmer spoke, she would nod once he was done, she realized belatedly that she had to be the one to make the choice.... she began to speak more to herself as she thought out loud, her crimson eyes tired
"I see......i see benefits to your suggestions khadrul... but am unsure if it is wise to partake in said tasks. But at the same time it would allow us to gather possibly other leads.... but we might also miss our window of opportunity...."
She would sigh, running a hand through her hair
"Let us speak with the others and gather their thoughts and opinions on the matter, i do not wish it to simply be my opinion alone that guides us"
The camp ended up being divided evenly, both Orsimer wanted to take up a task while on the road for differing reasons.  Where Khadrul saw opportunity for profit Gogron saw a target that was more likely to bring about an opportunity of combat, why else would they need protective details tagging along.  On the other hand the scouts that had been tasked with protecting and assisting Katriel advised against bringing about a greater potential for danger.
That left only one other member besides Katriel and Iniana, an Argonian that worked alongside Khadrul in which Khadrul had become fond of over the few months they traveled together.  He of course just went along with Khadrul's decision, an almost unfair situation giving Khadrul essentially two votes in any democratic process.1
Iniana:
After Katriel had asked the others she turned to Iniana for her response.
"Of course I say we head straight to meet up with our family!  Do you even have to ask?"
Iniana was clearly frustrated that anyone else had any say in this decision.
"We are already working off months old intel.  If we don't find our family soon then who knows where they'll be or even if they will remain alive."
Khadrul:
Though he wasn't asked he chimed in.
"You are precisely correct, we are working off months old intel.  In other words who's to say that the result will be any different whether we get there in a week or a month.  That's not even considering that the information could be bogus in the first place."
Iniana:
She was very unhappy with the input from the Orsimer and stuck her tongue out at him before responding.
"You may be right, or if we choose another path we may get there a single day too late, a day that would have saved the lives of one of MY family!"
She paused for a moment pondering the Orsimer's words and pulled out a map to look at their options.
"The caravan's destination is on the way technically, it wouldn't be but a few hours or a day at most out of the way.  But caravans travel slow with all the extra people and supplies.  The diplomat would use our transport so wouldn't change our speed any, but their destination is at least a couple days out of the way.  We might possibly pass through our destination depending on the path we choose."
After reviewing everything she thought for a brief moment and then continued.
"I say if we were to take on an extra responsibility then the Diplomat is the better option.  We can stop by Arenthia, spend the day camped outside the town and ask some questions.  My preference would still be to head straight to Arenthia, everything else be damned, but at least with the Diplomat our speed would not be hindered."
When she was done she turned to Katriel, biterness clear in her voice at even the thought of not rushing straight to her family, or at least a lead that could be their family.
"I guess that makes this an even split, it's up to you whether or not we take on extra work for the sake of a House I know nothing about and do not care about either.
Katriel would rub her eyes tiredly as she thought, meeting more to herself, but iniana would be able to hear
"By the gods why can't someone else be here to make these choices....?"
She would take a slow breath in before opening her eyes, chewing on her lip before speaking for the others to hear
"....i say we take on the political convoy, we may be able to gather more information from them on these rumors or gather another lead.... plus if it takes just a long I'd rather travel with a larger group that isn't as easily ambushed or  left to the wayside.... there's power in numbers afterall"
Khadrul:
He eyed Katriel while she was contemplating their destination and method of travel.  After she had consulted the others and made the final decision Khadrul smiled.  He had been hoping the caravan would be the final choice.  It was, afterall, where he was most comfortable.  He started pondering what kind of good deals he could get from the other traders among the caravan.
"A fine decisions, one worthy of a member of the Great House Hlaalu!  I will go and make the necessary arrangements."
Iniana:
As the Orsimer spoke she stuck her tongue out at him then looked to Katriel and began pouting.
"That will add days to our trip!  Though I guess it does make some sense, maybe we can get some other leads relating to other members of our family.  I will trust your decision, even if I don't like it."
Iniana headed off, snatched up her backpack angrily and hopped onto the back of the wagon.  Khadrul started to say something to her about being careful of the supplies but when he looked she was staring at him with her tongue out.
With the wagon and animals already prepared the group merely had to wait for Khadrul to come back with the contract and they all moved to join the caravan.  The agreement was to provide security at the rear of the caravan, often the most dangerous, while a mercenary company ran point.  The caravan moved faster than most had expected but would still end up slowing the party by two and a half days without any trouble or events.
The first day went smooth with no issues presented other than the mercenary company arguing with the caravan leader about the agreement they had made back in Narsis.  After the disagreement was settled three of the mercenaries ended up breaking off from the group and heading south.  As night approached the caravan found a defensible location to stop and the leader of the mercenary group approached the Hlaalu members.
Mercenary Captain:
The Mercenary Captain was a medium sized Dunmer adorned in plain yet sturdy leather armor.  As he approached he kept his hand on the hilt of his sword, walking slowly but confidently.  He eyed each member of the Hlaalu group cautiously, as if measuring each of them up in case of trouble.  As he spoke he had a rough and loud voice.
"So you're the ones bringing up the rear defense?"
Khadrul:
He noticed the mercenary approaching and tossed his eyes around the rest of the group to make sure everyone had taken note of his approach.  As he looked around he noticed the Khajiit was nowhere to be seen, he assumed that meant she was prepared as well.  He wasn't sure what the disagreement had been and was concerned there might be problems if they didn't handle this situation correctly.
"We didn't get the pleasure of speaking with you due to our joining on so late and being given the job of covering the rear, my name is Khadrul.  It is an honor ser."
As he continued he gestured in Katriel's direction.
"Did you have business?  If so I must refer you to the one leading our group."
The mercenary looked over in the direction the Orsimer had gestured and squinted his eyes.
"So which of you is in charge then?"
Katriel would have been helping to settle their group down for the night and inspecting for any dangers when she overheard the captain looking for the leader of their group, for a second she forgot that that was her. Once she realized she silently swore to herself before making her way over to the new mer. Her voice guarded yet open, she was trying to copy how she'd seen al speak once he had gained office And rank
"I am the one in charge for the time being. How might i be of service ser?"
Captain:
He looked over the tiny creature before him and wondered how capable she truly was.  She was Dunmer so it was appropriate that she be in charge but even so, she didn't carry herself proudly like most Dunmer.
"Greetings sera, I just wanted to reach out in the name of cooperation.  We were initially slated to do guard detail of this caravan by ourselves, your joining has changed things a bit.  I imagine you understand that things don't always go as expected on long treks such as this and after we received intel about a potential threat up the road we notified the caravan leader and requested an increase in pay for the trip.  He told us the rate was fixed and we were welcome to leave if we no longer liked that and referred to a capable group that had members which had been involved with the Pact victory at Fort Farragut."
The Captain continued measuring up the group and visibly jumped backward as Gogron stood up to his full height and approached behind Katriel.
Khadrul:
He chuckled as he saw the Dunmer leap and shuuder at the sight of Gogron.
"Ah yes, I see you noticed Gogron back there.  He is quite the capable warrior and was himself involved with the battle to which you speak where he felled well over a hundred enemies of the Pact.  Katriel was also involved and had an equally impressive number of kills during the fight, though her tactics are quite different than that lumbering oaf."
Captain:
He dusted himself off instinctually while he recovered his wits, nodded to both Orsimer now standing close to him, and then continued.
"I see.  Then I guess the caravan leader was right to have faith in your capabilities.  Even so, there are rumors of bandits on the roads that have been harassing trade caravans and our scouts picked out camps that were used recently, we may have an issue.  I don't know if you noticed but when I shared the news that the caravan leader refused to increase our pay a few of my men decided they would rather not risk their lives without a better offer of reward."
His eyes kept drifting to the giant Orsimer now a foot behind Katriel and it almost appeared that sweat was forming on his brow.
"Maybe you can discuss that increase in pay with the caravan leader also, in light of what I have just shared."
Katriel refused to let the news of bandits ahead stir emotions on her face, however as the dunmer asked her to speak to the one who hired them, she raised a single brow in curiosity, she would nod to her companions briefly before replying to the other mer
"...I see no reason why my speaking to him would have any differing affect as yours did ser...unless you think me to have some mystic powers of persuasion that I have yet to hear about. What benefit would I or my team receive to you getting higher pay? Unless it would be for all to share equally..."
She would tilt her head, one red eye searching his without fear and with slight boredom, though true interest was reflected in her tone and look, she wasn't simply trying to brush the other man off, she simply was really curious, she hadn't been made aware that they'd even be getting paid to travel with this group to begin with
Khadrul:
He frowned at Katriel's suggestive tone and took a step forward.
"Did we not know that risk was part of the agreement from the start, otherwise why would they ask for security in the first place?  Asking for more from the caravan would be in breech of our honor as representatives of House Hlaalu."
He gave a quick nod showing that he was done and looked to the others hoping for a bit of support.  None of the other members of Hlaalu came to his aide and spoke up.
Iniana:
As the Captain and Katriel spoke she had moved close enough to hear the conversation easily and leaned up against a tree.  As Khadrul spoke up, interrupting the negotiations, she grunted loudly and once again stuck her tongue out at the Orsimer.  She had grown to truly dislike this Orc.
"I'm not a member of Lala, what do I care if we represent them poorly or not.  This guy says there's trouble and seems to think it's worthy of more money then why shouldn't we get more.  I say we back his move, unless we think he's being dishonest and just trying to get more out of the caravan now that they are out here with no other means to gain protection."
Captain:
He gave great focus to each response and the manner in which each of the ones speaking held themselves.  They did all seem quite capable and he thought he might have recognized the Bosmer by descriptions of a lone attacker on the roads.  Of course all Bosmer looked very similar and this one was traveling with a group so that was unlikely.
"I think it would be unwise to proceed without care and focus from this point on and considering the heightened state of things it will require more vigilant eyes.  That alone will put additional stress that was not initially expected.  What say you, will you approach the caravan leader with me so that together we can let them know of our concern and desire to seek adequate compensation?"
She would look around as she listened, a slight crown on her face as she thought, her crimson eyes darting between speakers
"Honor holds different meanings for different people.... the general i know and have followed has done things in my presence which i would say are dishonorable, but that to him are the opposite. I wish to speak to the leader with you ser, but i make no promises that i will get you higher pay. I wish to hear his side of it and his thinking on the matter is all"
Khadrul:
If he had been offended by Katriel he didn't show it in expression.  The Orsimer simply bowed his head to her in resignation and remained quiet the rest of the time.
Captain:
He allowed a smile to creep across his face at her response, at the very least she would be willing to go with him, that would show a certain level of support as long as he was smart about his negotiating.
"As you say, honor has different meaning to different people, a wise assessment.  Of course you need to hear from the caravan commander so you can make your own assessment of the situation.  We will head that way immediately."
With that the commander gestured towards the main camp.  As he did so Khadrul stepped up to Katriel, indicating he wished to speak with her before she headed out.  The Captain nodded to the Orsimer and wandered off a ways to wait for her.
He didn't have much to say nor had any input to provide but simply wanted to give Katriel the details that he had previously worked out with the caravan commander.  Since it had been on short notice and the caravan already had a security detail he was forced to both lowball their earnings as well as use what had become somewhat of a legend locally, the valiant defense of Fort Farragut.  Khadrul explained that he wasn't sure but may have embellished Katriel's role and abilities putting her kill count at "just shy of one hundred".
Agreement:
Rear detail with limited night watch presence, 4 members per night
140 gold upon safe arrival at the destination(20 gold per member)
